• AVG Free Edition - This is by far the best FREE anti virus out there.  It’s a pretty straight forward install.  Make sure to remove any old anti virus software programs before installation.  If you are using a PC these days, it’s imperative that you have some sort of virus protection on you computer!
• Window Defender - This is spy ware protection provided by Microsoft for free.  It does a pretty good job blocking spy ware in real time.  This is only for Windows XP, Windows Vista already has the program built in.  I also recommend using Ad-Aware to pick up anything that Windows Defender over sees.
• Ad-Aware - This a good program to run once a week or if you think you might have picked something up after doing some shady web browsing.  A few years ago, I pulled 1,282 different spy wares program’s off a customer’s computer.  That’s my biggest record so far…shoot me a message if you can beat that!!
• HandBrake - HandBrake is an easy to use DVD riping software that can be used to rip copyrighted DVD’s to your hard drive.  It copies a whole DVD in about :45 min and the file size is about 1gb or so.  It’s a great way to get those movies on your IPOD!
• Firefox - So are you ready to switch yet?  It’s just a better web browser.  Granted you are still going to need Microsoft’s Internet Explorer, but its a little more secure and there are a ton of great add ons that are just cool.
